Gauteng Traffic Volume (South Africa)
As the long weekend comes to a close, many people are packing up and heading back to Gauteng. Traffic volumes are expected to increase as the day goes on, and law enforcement authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation.
However, there is one major concern that they are focusing on. There have been reports of illegal lights being installed on vehicles, with some even going as far as having a siren installed without any proper authority. The authorities have taken action against these individuals, with one having their vehicle impounded and another being fined.
Later in the day, officers will be patrolling Tembisa, particularly looking for drunken drivers. This operation will focus on ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy and that drivers are not under the influence of alcohol.
Earlier in the day, officials were on the Cumblani top on the M1 southbound, where they witnessed heavy traffic volumes. In fact, they have noted that this is one of the highest recorded traffic volume peaks post the Covid-19 pandemic.
As always, it is important for all road users to be responsible and mindful of others while traveling, especially during times of increased traffic volume.
